MA Fine Art
Welcome to the University of Sunderland MA Fine Art Digital Exhibition 2020.
Firstly I would like to congratulate all the students on producing some great work and thank all the staff who have supported them in what has been an exceptional year.
Despite the pandemic, students produced several external exhibitions: ‘Spaces’ at Gas Contemporary in North Shields and before lockdown, and the day the National Gallery in London opened its doors after lockdown, another exhibition, ‘Different Spaces’, in Frederick Street Gallery, The Bridges, Sunderland.
The MA Fine Art students also participated in a project with Sunderland Culture at the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, in which the students responded to the Arts Council Collection exhibition, ‘Received Wisdom’, initially as an ACC Digital takeover during lockdown, and then with real works in the museum, placing student works alongside works by Lubaina Hamid, Rose Wylie and Hew Locke, to name a few of the renowned artists in the exhibition.
This year MA Fine Art student, Jordan Thomas, exhibited a painting at the Biscuit Factory, Newcastle upon Tyne and Lyn Killeen’s sculptures have been picked for the Baltic Open.
And finally, a ‘shout out‘ to our MA Fine Art alumni who have exhibited this year in the Atkinson Gallery, Somerset, The Royal Academy Winter/Summer exhibition, London, The Auxiliary, Middlesbrough and Cheeseburn Sculpture Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Stay Safe, Be Brave and Keep Making Art.
