MA Fine Art | Class of 2020
My practice is purely based on inspiration from photographs. Using mixed media, I create figurative portraits in my unique painting style. I recreate images using line drawings before projecting it onto canvas. Acrylic paint helps me to capture the personality of the figure and their expression. I always consider colours carefully before painting; it is important to create a likeness of the figures I paint. Many of my portfolio pieces are inspired by my personal life and the people I have shared those experiences with.
A great deal of my work is inspired by artists who break their subject down to create a more simplified approach to their paintings, for example Gary Hume for his minimalist approach to figurative portraiture and Alex Katz for his bold choice of block 2D shapes to form the faces of his figures.
