Within my work it is my intention to challenge what a painting can be. I do this in a variety of ways. Using paper and collage to create my artwork is one example, because I don’t believe that paintings have to be constricted to only a canvas.

The stretcher of a canvas creates a structure and a natural border that confines the painting within, that I do not want for my own body of work. I also do not use any paint brushes or traditional tools to apply my paint, I primarily use my hands, or pour paint to mark make.

To me the application process in my artwork is at the centre of my practice. My painting practice includes several simple making processes which include layering surfaces together, pouring, masking, peeling or spattering paint along with using my hands to shape the paint for mark making.
