Fine Art | Class of 2020
My creative background is mainly in photography, digital imaging and graphic design, although I have explored most of the traditional art forms such as painting, drawing and pottery. I am also very interested in rural crafts, particularly dry stone walling, pole lathe turning and blacksmithing.
More recently I have begun to work with low-cost and recycled materials, generally scrap wood, wool, cardboard and canvas. I like to use these items because they can demonstrate to the public that art does not have to be about expensive oil paints and stretched canvases.
My latest projects have involved the creation of kinetic sculptures which I then film in operation, usually with additional audio, in order to produce a more immersive sensory experience for the audience.
There is much talk these days about ‘art in the community’ and this is something I am very keen to promote in a positive and practical way.
