Fashion Design and Promotion | Class of 2020
My work takes inspiration from the punk subculture and from the style of femininity over the last fifty years. Punk fashion has always made a statement and the subculture can often be seen as symbolic of protest. The topic of climate change is close to my heart, and I am passionate about it. I see my passion streaming into the project with the use of prints. Punk has a lot of symbolic features, evident from my research, from prints to safety pins. This is similar with femininity, a lot has changed in terms of feminine silhouettes, but women are still trying to replicate some styles with the use of belts to accentuate the waist. I have combined these contrasting styles to create my 6-outfit collection to make a statement. I want people to look at it and think about their actions and how we can stop climate change.
