Localism

My project looks at the nightlife within my local area; it was inspired by my own experiences of social-life and friendship. I began by taking photographs of groups of people and their environment whenever I would go out, in order to observe behaviour of the individual and groups. After analysing the photographs I decided to focus on colour schemes and patterns, this inspired pieces I created within printing workshops and illustrations. I experimented with a number of illustration formats, drawing in colour onto black paper to give it more of a neon light effect, I drew onto red drinking cups (that are particularly associated with American youth drinking culture) and lastly created digital drawings with a neon effect. I think it would be a fun and interesting next step to develop my work further in the future by actually making illustrations from neon lights.
