Localism

I began this project by documenting graffiti in my local area. Once I had built up a collection of photographs I began experimenting with them digitally – distorting them, creating my own pieces inspired from the streets. Then, with changes of producing work due to Lockdown, I decided to examine the theme of Localism in a different light, examining how people close to me have been affected. The focus became my younger sister; it seems this situation has affected her mostly; in such strange times, having to finish her last year of high school without her exams, missing prom, cancelling travelling around America, cancelling her sixteenth birthday plans, all of this to be replaced with uncertainty. My photographs of her aim to capture the feelings she goes through in a single day/hour/moment but knowing audiences across the world can relate to this during these uncertain times.
