Foundation Diploma Art and Design | Class of 2020
My project explores the colour and pattern of garments. Inspired by Christian Cowan, I experimented with painting and drawing before digitally manipulating them to camouflage the model with their clothes. Initiating my own photo-shoot at home, I created images that held patterns or colours I was drawn to. I digitally altered my styled images, taking inspiration from Andreea Robescu, for her use of bold colours and abstract shapes.
I then developed my digital images into an animation where colourful pattern emerges from the monochrome model in a continual loop to symbolise the confidence emulating from the model when wearing this garment, to reveal the power that clothing can give. I used H&M as a brand to place my fashion communication contextually, thinking about the brands youthful feel and collaborative endeavours. Layering my imagery onto the shop windows, billboards and utilising the brands logo visualised the potential in these works.
