BLURRED
Blurred is a series I created to explore the virtual reality world many teenagers are engrossed within in 2019. I combined the space in which I socialised as a teenager and the digital space many teenagers socialise now. The two worlds often times blur together not knowing where one ends and the other begins creating a surreal fictional world.

Roller Girls
I recently discovered the vibrant and exciting world of roller derby through a friend who plays for Newcastle Roller Girls – a sporting organisation encouraging social inclusion that runs three league teams in the north east region. Although still a minority sport in the UK, I found this dynamic contact sport – and the diverse range of women who play it – truly fascinating. Attending tournament games sparked the idea to document team events, capturing their competitions and training sessions whilst learning more about those who participate and their reasons for doing so. Combining still photographs of these various team events with the spoken testimonial of a leading team member, ‘Roller Girls’ offers a player’s perspective of this energetic team sport, highlighting the benefits of participation and what it means to be part of a wider, supportive community.
