Foundation Diploma Art and Design | Class of 2020
Groovy Baby is a project which explores pattern and form within a modern-day context, influenced by the style and culture of the 1960’s. My final collection consists of 5 wallpapers and 5 complimentary clay objects. Each piece is designed to perform as a functional object while also being sculptural, bringing elements of both art and design into a domestic setting. Each pattern was developed from a print, drawing, painting or sculptural form, making every wallpaper intrinsically linked to each of the clay objects. Having completed this project during the COVID-19 lockdown, I experimented a lot with materials, using things which would not traditionally been used, such as playdoh and printing with emulsion paint, but these experiments along with a lot of determination and persistence, allowed me to continuously develop my project from initial ideas to the final collection I have today.
