Mica Mota explores storytelling in photography and the moving image as a tool to communicate experiences. He believes that subjects are easier to understand when seen through the camera. Preferring to work with analogue photography, Mota is interested in the photograph-as-object, contained within the archive.

The Transmissions of the Exo Surveyor
‘The Transmissions of the Exo Surveyor’ is a moving image project that visualises the story of a cosmonaut crew that launched into space, searching for a new, inhabitable planet, in order to escape an apocalyptic Earth.

In ‘The English were glad to see them..’ Mota explores the oldest alliance between two countries, and how the marriage between Philippa of Lancaster with the King João I of Portugal in 1386 created a movement of people that lasts until today.
