Rachelle Harrigan

BA (Hons) Artist Designer Maker: Glass and Ceramics | Class of 2021

Rachelle’s work is rooted in a deep belief that we, as a species, are incidentals on a planet that will take back all that it gives. To the Heartwood is a visual recreation of the resilience and fighting spirit of life. The struggle, to be honest and authentic in a judgmental environment. The strength and tenacity to face the aesthetically preoccupied and lay bare the scars as evidence of a life lived and experiences had. Constructing with found objects, wire and clay, this work is a statement of the harm done to us, to ourselves and to other species. Rachelle invites you to walk amongst the pieces and have a sense of moving past beings that are the physical representation of an irrepressible spirit.
